What is Cheersuu?

Cheersuu is an app for saying cheers to friends and family who aren't with you. Take a photo of your drink, whether it's beer, wine, coffee or even water. Cheersuu turns it into a beautiful postcard, with where you are, what you're drinking, and the date and time stamped on it. Share it in a DM, a group chat or on social media, and they can say Cheersuu back with one tap. Every Cheersuu is also saved in your own log, and you control who sees it. There are no comments and no followers: the drink is the medium, and the moment is the point.

Where does the name come from?

Bangalore. Cheersuu is "Cheers" with a Kannada ending on it — the same word, said the way it is said there.

Do I need to install an app?

No. Cheersuu is at cheersuu.com, on a phone or a computer. If you'd like the app, the official Cheersuu app is on the App Store for iPhone and on Google Play for Android. On a computer you can install Cheersuu from your browser, or on Windows from the Microsoft Store, so it opens like any other app.

Do I need an account?

Only to make your own, and that includes answering someone with a photo of your drink. Opening a Cheersuu someone sent you, and tapping Cheersuu back, need no account. Your account is what saves every Cheersuu you make in your own log.

Is Cheersuu free?

Yes, completely. There is nothing to pay for, no subscription and no advertising.

How do I send a Cheersuu to someone?

Every Cheersuu has its own link. On the screen straight after you take one, and any time afterwards from your own Cheersuu log, Send this Cheersuu gives you two ways. As a link is best for chats: it opens your phone's own share sheet so you can drop it into a message, and copies the link at the same time. As a photo is for stories and posts: it sends the whole Cheersuu as one image and copies your link too, so you can add it as a link sticker. One tap from whoever opens it sends a Cheersuu straight back to you.

How do I log a Cheersuu?

Take a photo of your drink and the view, or pick one you have already taken. If you like, say where you are — the app can detect it, or you can type your own name for the spot — and what is in your glass; both are optional. Cheersuu turns it into a postcard, with the place, the drink, and the date and time stamped on it. It's saved straight to your log, and the next screen is where you send it.

What does it mean to Cheersuu someone back?

It is the reply. When you open a Cheersuu somebody sent you, there is a coaster to tap, and tapping it tells the sender you saw it and raised your glass.

What is a Cheersuu Round?

A Cheersuu Round starts when someone answers your Cheersuu with one of their own instead of just tapping back. Both drinks then sit together on one page, wherever the two of you are. Anyone who answers after that joins the same round, so everyone's drinks stay together.

How do I join a Cheersuu Round?

Open a Cheersuu that is part of one and take "join the round", or tap the empty chair on the table. You log your own drink the way you always would and it lands beside theirs. Joining needs an account, because you are making a Cheersuu of your own — tapping one back never does.

Can I add more than one drink to a Cheersuu Round?

No, one drink each. If you already have a drink in the round, another Cheersuu simply goes to your log as an ordinary one.

Is a Cheersuu in a round always shown to everyone?

Yes. A round is shared: it has its own page, it can appear on the front page, and everybody in it can see every drink, so a Cheersuu shown only to anyone with the link, or only to you, can't be part of one. If you want a moment kept back, make it on its own instead.

Who can see the Cheersuus I send?

That is yours to choose, per Cheersuu, when you save it — and changeable any time from your Cheersuu log. Everyone: it appears on your profile and the front page shelves, gets its own page search engines can find, and opens for anyone with the link. Anyone with the link: it stays off all of that but still opens for anyone holding the link. Only me: nobody else can open it, even with the link.

Can I keep my Cheersuu log completely private?

Yes. Every Cheersuu is shown to everyone, to anyone with the link, or only to you — your call when you save it, and changeable any time from your Cheersuu log. Only me means nobody else can open it, even with the link. Set everything to Only me and nobody else can open any of it; mix the three and every Cheersuu keeps its own answer to who sees it. Your profile has the same three choices under Edit.

Can I change my profile address?

Once, under Edit on your own profile — the button only you can see. Your old address is never given to anybody else — it stays yours and sends people to wherever your profile is now, so a link you shared before the change still works. It is one change rather than unlimited because every change permanently reserves another name; if you need to change it again, email cheersuu@levtech.global and we will do it for you. Your Cheersuus are not affected either way, because each one keeps its own link.

How do I stop a Cheersuu turning up in Google?

Two controls, and neither breaks anything you have already sent. Open any Cheersuu from your Cheersuu log and set Who sees it to Anyone with the link — that takes it off your profile and out of search while the link keeps working (Only me goes further: nobody but you can open it at all). Or open your own profile, tap Edit, and set the page to Anyone with the link — the whole profile leaves search and the shelves while the address keeps working (Only me closes the page to everyone but you). Search engines take their own time, so anything they have already found can linger in results for a few weeks.

Do I have to share my location?

No — the place is optional, like the drink. Say where you are if you like: let the app detect it, pick a venue from the suggestions, or type whatever you want to call the spot — and a Cheersuu with no place at all is still a Cheersuu. Your exact coordinates are never shown on a Cheersuu and are never readable by anyone opening it.

What drinks can I send?

Any of them: beer, wine, coffee, even water. The moment is the point, and the drink is how it is remembered. You type whatever is actually in your glass; there is no list to choose from, and naming the drink is optional too.

Can I remove a Cheersuu after sending it?

Yes, and there are two different things you might mean. Removing it from your log takes it off your own list and off your Cheersuu profile, while the link keeps working for the people you sent it to. Deleting it removes it for everyone, including them. Removing is inside the Cheersuu — open it from your log; deleting for good is by email, and the privacy page says how.

What is my Cheersuu profile?

Claim a handle from your Cheersuu log and you get a page at cheersuu.com followed by that handle, listing the Cheersuus you show to everyone — the others never appear there. Open your own profile and tap Edit — a button only you see — to change your handle or your display name, and you can take any single Cheersuu off the profile without deleting it.

How do I add Cheersuu to my home screen?

On an iPhone or an Android phone, get the official Cheersuu app: tap Install app at the bottom of any Cheersuu page and it takes you to the App Store or Google Play. On most computers the same link opens a proper install button — one tap and it is done.

Is there an iPhone app?

Yes. The official Cheersuu app is on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. Log in with the account you already use and your Cheersuus are all there.

Does Cheersuu work on iPhone and Android?

Both, and on desktop browsers too. Cheersuu lives at cheersuu.com, so any browser opens it, and the official Cheersuu app is on the App Store and on Google Play.

I found a problem, or I have an idea. How do I get in touch?

Put it in Cheersuu's suggestion box at suggestionbox.tips/cheersuu. Ideas go on a board where anyone can add theirs and vote, and anything else comes to us privately. To take a Cheersuu profile down, or for anything about your data, email cheersuu@levtech.global and it reaches a person.

How do I delete my account?

Open the account menu (your picture, top right) and tap Delete account at the bottom. Your profile and Cheersuus disappear straight away, and 30 days later your account, Cheersuus, photos, log and profile page are deleted for good, and we email you to confirm it. Log back in before then to keep them. Once deleted, anyone who opens a link you sent will find the Cheersuu gone. Photos you sent straight into a chat stay in that chat. If you no longer have access to your account, email cheersuu@levtech.global from the address you signed up with and we will delete it for you.
