The story of Cheersuu

Cheersuu
/ˈtʃɪr.zuː/
noun & verb
Bangalore · "Cheers", Kannada-ized

In Bangalore we don't say "Cheers." We say "Cheersuu" — the same word, Kannada-ized.

Every time I sat down somewhere nice with a drink — a perfect moment, many oceans away from the friends I grew up with, the ones I'd get drunk with every Saturday night — I'd photograph it, send it to them on WhatsApp, and say Cheersuu. The way we always did in Bangalore, where chips is chipsuu, drinks is drinksuu, and cheers is cheersuu. Back would come a Cheersuu — or a photo of whatever they were drinking, along with a Cheersuu. Friends across cities and time zones, raising a glass at each other. Hundreds of times, over many years.

Those photos have all gone down the WhatsApp black hole. I'm sure they're still on our phones somewhere, but we can't find them. That's years of small, beautiful moments — all of us sharing a drink across continents — and we can't get them back.

So I built the thing the word Cheersuu deserved. And the world, but let's start with the word. Cheersuu is a drink log that lets you share the emotion. One photo, capturing the moment — the drink and the place are just the medium. Designed for the exact moment you pick up a glass and think of someone. Like the old times in Bengaluru.

I designed Cheersuu to be drink-agnostic, so coffee counts as much as beer, and you can Cheersuu from a raging beach bar on a Saturday at midnight or from your sofa on a lazy Sunday afternoon. It's the moment and the emotion that count, not what's in the glass.

Log the drink. Share the moment.

Cheersuu you soon! What's in your glass right now?

Rohit
